HC Deb 19 May 1914 vol 62 cc1775-6
73. Mr. O'DONNELL

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury how much has been paid annually to England out of the Imperial purse under the Voluntary Schools Act, 60 and 61 Vic., c. 5; and what equivalent was allocated to Ireland for this sum?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the TREASURY (Mr. Montagu)

With the hon. Member's permission, I will circulate with the Votes figures of expenditure on account of Aid Grant to voluntary schools in England and Wales. This Grant was discontinued by the Education Act, 1902, which substituted for it and the necessitous School Boards Grant a new Aid Grant, the Ireland Development Grant being given as an equivalent in Ireland for the cost involved.—[See Written Answers this date.]
