HC Deb 19 May 1914 vol 62 c1764
41. Major HOPE

asked the Secretary for Scotland if he will state the actual amount of the Education (Scotland) Fund available in the financial year 1909–10 for distribution by secondary education committees under Section 17 of the Education (Scotland) Act, 1908; and how much of this sum he considers was really ear marked for the teachers' superannuation scheme?

Mr. McKINNON WOOD

The balance of the Education (Scotland) Fund, which was actually distributed to secondary education committees in the year 1909–10 was £421,958. The amount which would have been required for the purposes of the superannuation scheme for teachers, if it had been in operation at that time, may, as I am advised, be estimated at from £90,000 to £100,000.
