HC Deb 12 May 1914 vol 62 c910
46. Mr. GODFREY LOCKER-LAMPSON

asked the Prime Minister whether, in view of the importance of the question of payment of Members, he will grant time for its discussion on the Vote, regardless of whether or not he receives the usual official intimation from any quarter of the House that such a discussion is desired?

Mr. LLOYD GEORGE

No, Sir. My right hon. Friend is not prepared to give Government time for a discussion of this matter unless an intimation reaches him through the usual channels that such a discussion is desired.

Mr. JOHN WARD

Can the right hon. Gentleman inform us whether the hon. Member who puts this question receives his salary, and, if not, why not?

Sir WILLIAM BYLES

May I ask whether the absence of the usual official intimation indicates unwillingness on the part of Members to discuss the subject?
