§ 55. Mr. WATTasked the Secretary to the Treasury whether any preference is given by the officials of the Government-owned canal, the Crinan Canal, to the passage of the steamers or other boats of any particular owner or owners passing through the canal; if so, will he say who are the particular owners who get such preference; and why such preference is given, in view of the fact that the mails are not carried by steamer or other boat but by coach?
§ Mr. MONTAGUIn accordance with the Regulations, preference is given to passenger steamers running on scheduled time, for reasons which will be obvious to my hon. Friend.
§ Mr. MONTAGUI think there is only one running steamers to scheduled time at the moment.
