HC Deb 11 May 1914 vol 62 c728
9. Mr. ROWLANDS

asked the hon. Member for fit. George's-in-the-East, as representing the First Commissioner of Works, whether arrangements can be made to charge half-fees at Hampton Court Palace on public holidays, Saturdays, and Sundays, the days when the working-classes mostly visit the Palace, until such time as the fees can be totally abolished?

Mr. W. BENN

The First Commissioner is anxious to have some experience of the working of the present arrangements before deciding whether it would be possible to carry out my hon. Friend's suggestion.

Mr. ROWLANDS

Will the hon. Gentleman see whether it is not possible to try the experiment in the Whitsuntide holidays?

Mr. W. BENN

As soon as we find out how our present system works we will consider it.
