HC Deb 11 May 1914 vol 62 c707
28. Mr. GOLDMAN

asked the Postmaster-General whether the £75,000 which Has been granted for over-riding wage of full-time postal servants of twenty-three years of age and over who are receiving less than 22s. a week is additional to the £643,000 which has been published as the immediate cost of the recommendations of the Select Committee on Postal Servants, or whether it is included in that sum?

Mr. HOBHOUSE

The cost of the overriding minimum wage of 22s. a week for men of twenty-three years or over employed in the service of the Post Office is additional to the immediate cost of the Holt Revision as already published. The concession applies, pro rata, to men performing a part-time duty and most of the expenditure will be incurred in raising the pay of such men.
