HC Deb 07 May 1914 vol 62 cc426-7
33. Mr. KING

asked the President of the Board of Education whether the town lands charity of Wilby, Suffolk, produces about £70 per annum, whereof two-sevenths has been since 1869 devoted to education; whether this educational portion of the charity has been since 1902 unapplied but accumulated; and whether, in view of the uselessness of the charity in its present condition to the people of the parish, he will consider an, application from the parish council to enable the accumulated funds to be used in accordance with the wishes of the council?

Mr. PEASE

The net income of the charity appears to be about £55, of which four-sevenths is applicable towards the support of any school for the education of the poor of Wilby under a scheme made in 1869. I have no recent information as to the application of the income, but I am making inquiries. I am prepared to consider any application for the establishment of a scheme which would not be inconsistent with the existing trusts.
