HC Deb 07 May 1914 vol 62 c440
58. Mr. WORTHINGTON EVANS

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether his estimate, given on the 2Sth May last, that 1,100,000 persons pay Income Tax, of which 950,000 are entitled to some abatement, requires to be added to now?

Mr. LLOYD GEORGE

For the year 1914–15 it is estimated that there will be 1,240,000 taxpayers of whom, under the Budget proposals, only 164,000 will pay at the full rate of 1s. 4d.
