HC Deb 06 May 1914 vol 62 cc268-9
54. Viscount WOLMER

asked the Post master-General whether Messrs. James Howarth, having opened a factory in Earlestown, Lancashire, and having applied for a telephone service, have not been successful in obtaining one; whether he is aware that the application was made so long ago as 28th January, and that the refusal of the authorities to supply a telephone service, if persisted in, may render it impossible for Messrs. Howarth to continue their factory in Earlestown, and that a number of hands will thereby be thrown out of employment; and whether he will, in view of this, see that a telephone service is supplied to this firm at once?

Mr. HOBHOUSE

I will make inquiry as regards the facts of the case, and communicate with the Noble Lord.
