HC Deb 06 May 1914 vol 62 cc270-1
47. Mr. KING

asked the Prime Minister whether he has received any response to the offer made by the Government, that if there were no party opposition, boundary commissioners could be appointed for the purposes of the Plural Voting Bill and could report in two or three months on a scheme of Redistribution, and that before the next General Election the anomalies of the present electoral areas might be redressed?

The PRIME MINISTER

The speech of my right hon. Friend was only made on 27th April, and, so far as I am aware, there has not been a suitable opportunity in the House for a reply from those to whom the offer was addressed.

Mr. KING

Might not the reply be made privately, and is not a good deal of important work between the two parties going on privately?

The PRIME MINISTER

I do not know about that.
