Edinburgh, and Glasgow; and in each case whether these rates apply to all the men in the force or only to those possessing a certain number of years' service?

Mr. F. HALLMay I ask whether the pay of the Metropolitan Police is smaller than in many of the other provincial towns?
§ Mr. McKENNAOf course, the hon. Member is right so far as the substance of the pay goes, but when he considers the terms of the pension, the prospects of the police, and also the housing, I am not sure that the conclusion which he wishes to draw is the correct one.
