HC Deb 04 May 1914 vol 62 cc15-6
13. MARQUESS Of TULLIBARDINE

asked the Postmaster-General (1) whether it has now been arranged to extend telephone facilities to Ballinluig, Perthshire; (2) whether it has been arranged to have a telephone call office without outside subscribers at Killin; and (3) whether a request has been received from St. Fillans for telephone facilities; and what is the reply of the postal authorities?

Captain NORTON

The provision of telephone facilities at Ballinluig, Perthshire, is still under consideration. A call office at Killin would not be justified except in connection with an exchange, for which adequate support is not yet forthcoming. I have not received any application for telephone facilities at St. Fillans, but I will have inquiry made on the subject.

MARQUESS Of TULLIBARDINE

Does the hon. and gallant Member not realise that these are comparatively large communities for a country district, and could it be arranged that the telegraphs might be worked with the telephone system?

Captain NORTON

That is possible, and I will make inquiries and let the Noble Lord know.
