Mr. HAMILTON BENNasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he has any official information regarding a successful engagement between a force under command of Major Soames, of the King's African Rifles, and Morehan tribesmen in Jubaland; and, if so, whether there were any casualties in the British force?
Mr. HARCOURTI am informed by the Governor of the East Africa Protectorate that on the 8th April Major Soames encountered and defeated a party of the Ali Dera tribe. No mention is made of any casualties in the British force.
