HC Deb 30 March 1914 vol 60 cc821-2
80. Mr. OUTHWAITE

asked what is the offence for which certain stokers of the "Zealandia" have been sentenced to two years' imprisonment?

Mr. CHURCHILL

The men were tried on two charges: 1. Making a mutinous assembly. 2. Wilfully disobeying the lawful command of two of their superior officers when ordered to fall in on the quarter deck. Several points of law are being examined by the legal authorities, which must be disposed of before I can deal with the case.

Mr. OUTHWAITE

Does the rule as to obedience extend to stokers?
