§ Mr. G. R. THORNEI wish to ask the Home Secretary a question, of which I have given him private notice: Whether his attention has been called to the case of W. M. Adamson of Wolverhampton, who is the chief organiser of the Workers' Union for the Midlands, and who on Friday last was fined for an alleged assault by a Walsall bench of magistrates £5, or in default, one month's imprisonment whether he is aware that the alleged assault took place in connection with the trade dispute at Walsall; that Adamson absolutely denied the assault, and has gone to prison; that the decision has caused widespread indignation in Walsall and district, and that many meetings of protest have already been held, and others are being arranged for; and whether, in view of the circumstances, he will cause an immediate inquiry into the facts of the case with a view, if he finds that there has been a miscarriage, of justice, to Adamson's immediate release?
