Considered in Committee.

Resolved, "That it is expedient to authorise the issue, out of the Consolidated Fund, of such sums not exceeding in the whole three million pounds, as may be required for the purpose of meeting any expenditure of" a capital nature incurred in pursuance of any Act of the present Session, in connection with housing in agricultural districts, and of such sums not exceeding two million pounds as may be required for the purpose of meeting any expenditure of a capital nature incurred in pursuance of any Act of the present Session in connection with the housing of persons employed by or on behalf of the Government Departments, and to authorise the Treasury to borrow money on the security of moneys provided by Parliament or the Consolidated Fund by means of terminable annuities or Exchequer bonds for the issue of such sums or the repayment thereof, and to provide for the payment out of moneys provided by Parliament of any expenses not being expenses of a capital nature incurred in pursuance of any Act of the present Session in connection with housing in agricultural districts or the housing of persons employed by or on behalf of Government Departments."—[Mr. Runciman.]
