§ 59. Sir ALFRED MONDasked the Secretary of State for War whether his attention has been directed to the fact that no member of the Canteens Committee has had any practical experience of the canteen system; and whether he will consider the advisability of appointing two-additional members to this Committee, one of whom shall have had an extensive experience in catering and the other of whom 31 shall have served in the ranks as a private soldier and has knowledge of his wants and grievances?
§ The PRIME MINISTERI see no need to alter the constitution of the Committee, which has already met. I am satisfied that its members have the necessary experience to enable them to deal with the question referred to them. Representatives of all the interests concerned will, no doubt, be able to lay their views before the Committee.
§ Mr. MALCOLMWill the right hon. Gentleman consider whether it would not be advisable to have private traders represented on this Committee besides catering companies and large firms like Harrods Stores?
§ The PRIME MINISTERAll these points have been very carefully considered.
