Mr. DU PREasked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that the Canadian postal authorities permit certain announcements of exhibitions and shows and charitable appeals to appear on 1206 the postmark cancelling the letter stamp; whether they derive any revenue from this source; and, if so, whether he will authorise the use of such postmarks in this country?
§ Mr. HOBHOUSEI have no official information on this subject, but I believe the answer to the hon. Member's first question to be in the affirmative. The second point I cannot answer. As to the third, I think the objections to such a system decidedly outweigh any advantages.
