HC Deb 02 July 1914 vol 64 c537
28. Mr. GRETTON

asked the hon. Member for St. George's-in-the-East, as representing the Insurance Commissioners, how many contributors to the National Insurance Act, as insured persons, there were in Ireland at the end of the last quarter for which returns are available; and can he state how many of these contributors are members of approved societies and the numbers of such contributors in the four provinces, respectively?

Mr. W. BENN

The latest available figures show that there are 729,598 insured persons in Ireland, of whom 717,798 are members of approved societies. The information asked for in the concluding part of the question is not required for any administrative purpose of the Insurance Commissioners.

Mr. GRETTON

What is the date of the Return that the hon. Gentleman has just quoted?

Mr. W. BENN

It is not a Return, but information specially secured for the answer to the question.

Mr. GRETTON

What is the date of the figures?

Mr. W. BENN

I think they have been brought right up to date.
