HC Deb 02 July 1914 vol 64 c542
51. Mr. RUPERT GWYNNE

asked the Prime Minister whether he is now in a position to say when a day will be given for the discussion of the Report of the Royal Commission on Indian Finance and Currency; and if he will see that this discussion takes place before the Debate on the Indian Budget?

The PRIME MINISTER

I can add nothing to the reply which I gave the hon. Member on 16th March last. The discussion between the Government of India and the Secretary of State has not yet been completed.

Mr. GWYNNE

Does the right hon. Gentleman not think it necessary to urge on this matter before we come to the discussion of the Indian Budget?

The PRIME MINISTER

I should be very glad to do so, but the communications are not yet complete; they are very complicated.

Mr. GWYNNE

Does the right hon. Gentleman contemplate we shall get that information—at any rate this month?

The PRIME MINISTER

I should be very sorry to give any pledge. We have not yet fixed the date for the Indian Budget.
