HC Deb 02 July 1914 vol 64 cc554-5
66. Dr. CHAPPLE

asked the Secretary to the Treasury whether he has received statements and appeals from the preventive officers and preventive men of His Majesty's Customs and Excise in Scotland with regard to their disabilities; and, if so, whether he can offer to them any encouragement in the hope that at least some of their main grievances may be removed?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the TREASURY (Mr. Montagu)

Statements have been received from the six men employed in Excise preventive stations in Scotland, and rearrangements have been sanctioned in their pay and allowances. The new rates will have effect from the 1st instant.

Mr. ROBERT HARCOURT

Is that supplementary to the letter which has been printed and circulated to the House?

Mr. MONTAGU

I do not know which letter the hon. Member refers to.
