HC Deb 24 February 1914 vol 58 c1587
42. Mr. CROFT

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he has received petitions in favour of immediate legislation dealing with imported plumage through all or any of the Prime Ministers of the States of Australia?

Mr. HARCOURT

I have received several representations from various societies and institutions in Australia urging His Majesty's Government to pass the Importation of Plumage (Prohibition) Bill.

Mr. CROFT

Were these petitions forwarded by the Prime Ministers?

Mr. HARCOURT

The obvious channel would be the Governor, not the Prime Minister. I forget the channel through which they reached me.
