HC Deb 19 February 1914 vol 58 c1109
13. Captain CRAIG

asked the Chief Secretary whether Mr. P. Larkin, of Ballinasloe, who, being chairman of the local district council, was lately fined by a court of law for improperly dealing with contracts for supplies to the workhouse, and held the Commission of the Peace as chairman, still continues to be a magistrate in the district?

Mr. BIRRELL

Mr. Larkin held the Commission of the Peace in virtue of his office as chairman of the rural district council. He became disqualified for this office by reason of being concerned in a contract for supplies to the Ballinasloe Lunatic Asylum, and therefore ceased to hold the Commission of the Peace.
