HC Deb 19 February 1914 vol 58 c1130
52. Mr. HAYDN JONES

asked whether the petition against the Disendowment provisions of the Established Church (Wales) Bill, received by him from Non conformists in the diocese of St. Asaph, will be presented to the House of Commons for submission to the Public Petitions Committee?

The PRIME MINISTER

The petition is not, I fear, in a form in which it can be presented to the House of Commons for submission to the Public Petitions Committee.

Mr. HOARE

Is the Prime Minister going to receive a deputation from the signatories?

The PRIME MINISTER

I am hoping to do so.

Mr. MALCOLM

May I ask the right hon. Gentleman if the form were altered to bring it into proper form for presentation to the House of Commons, would he then submit it? We should have no fear of the result.

The PRIME MINISTER

It is not a matter which rests with me at all. If the petition is presented in due form to the House of Commons, it goes to the Committee.
