HC Deb 19 February 1914 vol 58 cc1124-5
59. Mr. CASSEL

asked whether the Insurance Commissioners have issued or have prepared regulations to be issued or are contemplating the issue of regulations prohibiting the meeting of approved societies on licensed premises?

66. Mr. PETO

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether the Insurance Commissioners propose to issue a regulation prohibiting the meeting of approved societies and their branches upon licensed premises; and whether he will withdraw this regulation, if already issued, and leave such matters concerning the details of working to the discretion of the friendly societies themselves?

Mr. BENN

I would refer the hon. Members to the answer which I gave to similar questions by the hon. Members for Salisbury and East Nottingham yesterday.

Mr. HARRY LAWSON

May I ask the hon. Gentleman whether resolutions of protests from the approved societies against these regulations are under consideration?

Mr. BENN

Oh, yes; some protests have been received, and they are being considered.
