§ 80. Sir C. KINLOCH-COOKEasked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether, in view of the fact that several engineer apprentices in the Royal dockyards have been mobilised with the Territorial Force, it will be possible, with the consent of the apprentices, to allow them to join the Army Ordnance Corps of Artificers and so complete their term of apprenticeship?
§ Dr. MACNAMARADockyard apprentices mobilised with the Territorial Force will be dealt with in the same manner as other dockyard employés. They will be regarded as on special leave whilst with the Army, and will be allowed to resume their employment in the dockyard on demobilisation. The time served with the 162 Army will be allowed to count in their apprenticeship in all cases in whatever branch of the Army they may be serving. The question of allowing engineer apprentices to join the Army Ordnance Corps appears to be one for the War Office.
