§ 12. Mr. MORTONasked the Postmaster-General the cost for carrying mails between Lairg and Tongue formerly and the cost under the new arrangements; the cost now between Thurso and Skerray and the cost formerly; and how many persons tendered for carrying the mails on the Thurso route, their names, and the amounts of the tenders?
§ The POSTMASTER-GENERAL (Mr. Hobhouse)I am communicating with the hon. Member on the subject, and I cannot now say more than that the total cost of the present services to Tongue and Skerray is less than the expense which would have been incurred in continuing the former arrangements. It would be contrary to practice to furnish the prices quoted by tenderers for Post Office contracts.
