HC Deb 27 April 1914 vol 61 cc1306-7
1. Mr. HOARE

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether any charges have been made against Mr. Bowskill by the Portuguese authorities, and whether he has been released?

The UNDER-SECRETARY Of STATE for FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Mr. Acland)

His Majesty's Minister at Lisbon has not yet reported what specific charges have been preferred against Mr. Bowskill by the Portuguese authorities. With reference to the second part of the question I would refer the hon. Member to the reply returned to the hon. Member for East Nottingham on the 10th March stating that Mr. Bowskill had been released on parole pending inquiry.

Mr. HOARE

Have the charges been withdrawn?

Mr. ACLAND

We have no news to that effect.

Major ANSTRUTHER-GRAY

Has no news been received since 10th March?

Mr. ACLAND

Yes, but I have referred to the 10th of March because on that date we heard that he had been released on parole.
