§ 41. Mr. GOLDMANasked the Postmaster-General whether, having regard to the fact that the revised schedule of telephone rates has not been published before Easter, as was contemplated, he can now state the date when the new rates wall be announced?
§ Captain NORTONThe subject is one of great complexity, but my right hon. Friend hopes to obtain the authority of the Treasury for his proposals with regard to the revision of telephone charges at an early date and to announce them immediately afterwards.
§ Mr. GOLDMANIs the hon. Gentleman aware that so long ago as June of last year the Postmaster-General promised that the rates would be published, and has not the time arrived now for that to be done?
§ Captain NORTONThe Postmaster-General is now awaiting Treasury sanction, and will publish them immediately when that is obtained.
§ Mr. GOLDMANWhen they are published, will the Members of the House of Commons receive them simultaneously with outside bodies?
§ Captain NORTONI think that there will be no difficulty in arranging that.
§ Sir J. D. REESWill the Postmaster-General consider the question of trunk rates for Middlesex?
§ Captain NORTONThat is quite another question.
