asked the President of the Local Government Board what was the total expenditure of local authorities in England and Wales on education, main roads, police, and the administration of the Poor Law, in the years 1902 and 1912, respectively; and what portion of the sum so used was raised from rates, and the amount obtained from Imperial taxation and other sources in the two years?
