HC Deb 21 April 1914 vol 61 c741
28. Sir JOHN JARDINE

asked the Secretary for Scotland, with reference to the refusal of the Board of Agriculture to proceed with a scheme for the registration of Mr. James Knox, of Cawfaulds, near Hawick, as a small holder, why the scheme is not being proceeded with at an early date, seeing that Mr. Knox has received notice to quit the dwelling-house at the Whitsuntide term and that the dwelling-house forms part of the subjects which Mr. Knox desires to have as a small holding?

Mr. McKINNON WOOD

I am informed that the applicant wanted the most valuable part of Cawfaulds farm. The remainder of the farm could not have been let as a separate subject and the proposal was not one which the Board of Agriculture could recommend.
