HC Deb 20 April 1914 vol 61 c590
26. Mr. THOMAS RICHARDSON

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, in view of the fact that emigration agents in this country are enticing people to emigrate to Canada by stating that there is plenty of work to be had, he will take steps to counteract this by bringing to the public notice in a prominent way that unemployment is rife in many trades and centres in Canada at the present time?

Mr. J. M. ROBERTSON

Warnings have been published for some months past in the "Board of Trade Labour Gazette," and the Emigrants' Information Office have also issued warnings both in their monthly circular and in their poster which is exhibited at about 1,500 Labour Exchanges, public libraries, and other places. I am sending my hon. Friend copies of the latest issues of the notices referred to.
