HC Deb 14 April 1914 vol 61 c20
45. Mr. F. HALL (Dulwich)

asked the Home Secretary if, should the Government of Ireland Bill become law and an Irish Parliament be set up, the Imperial Government would be precluded, by the terms of the recent Army Order as to obedience to orders, from using the Army for enforcing the submission of Ulster; and if any such order has been or will be made by the Admiralty to deal with any similar question which may arise as regards the use of the Navy for political purposes?

Mr. McKENNA

I cannot answer a purely hypothetical question of this kind.
