§ 87. Mr. CROOKSasked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether his attention has been called to the fact that, in the Army Council arrangements for Artillery practice at Home during 1914, riding masters have been appointed to the post of camp quartermaster to the detriment of the warrant officers whose training entitles them, and not riding masters, for these positions; and that this affects 181 warrant officers who are led to expect these opportunities to serve as camp quartermasters as the need comes round each year; and will he call the attention of the Army Council to this complaint of warrant officers serving with the Colours?
§ The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for WAR (Mr. Tennant)This is a temporary duty for which officers are detailed: the officers selected are, as a rule, quartermasters or riding masters. Warrant officers have never been employed, and I do not think they can have been led to expect that they would get these appointments.
