HC Deb 02 April 1914 vol 60 c1383

Resolved, "That the Proceedings on the Government of Ireland Bill have precedence this day of the Business of Supply."—[The Chancellor of the Exchequer.]

Mr. BONAR LAW

May I ask the Home Secretary what business will be taken in this House the week we resume after the holidays?

Mr. McKENNA

On the Tuesday that the House reassembles we propose to take the Epileptic and Defective Children (Education) Bill, the Criminal Justice Administration Bill, and some smaller Orders on the Paper.

As to Wednesday and Thursday, perhaps the right hon. Gentleman would put a further question to me on Monday.

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

May I ask the right hon. Gentleman the Home Secretary —I presume I shall address him, though I gave private notice yesterday to the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs—whether the Government can now give any indication of the date on which the Budget Statement will be made?

Mr. McKENNA

There is every hope that the Chancellor of the Exchequer will be able to make a statement on a day in the week beginning 19th of April.

Mr. AMERY

Can the right hon. Gentleman indicate when he hopes to be able to bring forward the Imperial Naturalisation Bill?

Mr. McKENNA

The Bill is being introduced in another place, and we hope to bring it on here as soon as it comes down.

Mr. IAN MALCOLM

Can the right hon. Gentleman give us any assurance that the Welsh Bill will not be taken the week after?

Mr. McKENNA

I cannot give any assurance.
