HC Deb 29 May 1913 vol 53 cc309-10
26. Mr. JAMES HOGGE

asked the Secretary to the Treasury whether any arrangement has been made for the islanders of St. Kilda under the National Insurance Act; and, if not, whether he proposes to do anything?

Mr. MASTERMAN

I am informed that there are at the present time no persons on the island referred to who are insured under the National Insurance Act; the second part of the question does not therefore arise.

Mr. J. HOGGE

In view of the fact that St. Kilda has been cut off for six months, will he tell us how he knows that?

Mr. MASTERMAN'S

reply was not audible.

Mr. BOOTH

Are we to understand there are no persons on the island who ought to be within the scope of the Act?

Mr. MASTERMAN

That also I cannot answer for the moment, but probably the answer will be in the affirmative.
