asked the right hon. Gentleman (1) if W. Beckwith and Company, Brandon Street, Tower Bridge Road, Bermondsey, have a contract for saddlery and accoutrements with the War Office; if so, is he aware that the firm in question are not paying the minimum rate of wages as requested by the War Office schedule and they are not exhibiting the schedule as required by the War Office regulations; and, if so, does he propose to take any action in the matter; and (2) if William Jenkinson and Company, 10, White Street, Moorfields, have a contract for saddlery and accoutrements with the War Office; if so, is he aware that the firm in question are not paying the minimum rate of wages as requested by the War Office schedule, and they are not exhibiting the schedule as required by the War Office regulations; and, if so, does he propose to take any action in the matter?

The hon. Gentleman is under some misapprehension. There is no schedule in saddlery and accoutrement contracts laying down minimum rates of wages.
