HC Deb 06 May 1913 vol 52 cc1859-60
72. Dr. ADDISON

asked the President of the Board of Education whether the Crown, acting through the Lord President of the Council, has power under the Charter of the University of Bristol to visit and inquire into the working and administration of the university; and whether, in view of the allegations which have been made against the university, he will advise the Crown to institute an inquiry into the alleged grievances?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of EDUCATION (Mr. Trevelyan)

I have no authority to interpret the Charter, to which I must refer the hon. Member. With reference to the last part of the question, I have nothing to add to the statements I have already made on this subject in answer to questions by the hon. Members for Dublin University and Stirlingshire.
