HALLasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if the Royal Commission in whom are vested the funds derived from the Great Exhibition of 1851 received a sum of £70,000 in respect of the fabric and materials of the exhibition buildings, etc., from the persons to whom they were sold; and if, in view of the educational and other advantages which would result from the acquisition of the Crystal Palace and grounds for the public, he will consider the possibility of arranging for at least that amount to be diverted as a contribution to the purchase of the property?
