§ 42. Mr. NOEL BUXTONasked the Home Secretary to give the statistics of lead poisoning in potteries for this year; and whether any good result from the new Regulations can yet be noted?
§ Mr. McKENNAThe number of cases reported up to date is twenty-six, of which four were fatal; the number for the corresponding period in 1912 was the same, five however being fatal. The new Regulations were only made on the 2nd January last, and entailed a great deal of work, both on the occupiers and the Department, to give effect to the requirements. It is too early yet to look for any substantial change in the figures of lead poisoning.
§ Mr. WEDGWOODMay I ask whether these Regulations are now in force in all the potteries in North Staffordshire or only in some?
§ Mr. McKENNAI should like to have notice of that question. I think they are in force everywhere.
