HC Deb 01 May 1913 vol 52 cc1407-8
Mr. BONAR LAW

Will the right hon. Gentleman say what the business will be on Wednesday, and also what business will be taken in the week after the Recess?

Mr. LLOYD GEORGE

On Monday and Tuesday there will be a Second Reading discussion on the Women Suffrage Bill.

On Wednesday the Report of the Budget Resolutions will be taken, and on Thursday we shall ask the House to sit at Twelve o'clock, and take the Motion for the Adjournment.

On Monday next, I hope to be able to give the business for the week after the holidays. In regard to the three Bills upon which the House of Lords disagreed last Session, we propose to reintroduce them in the same form in which they left the House of Commons, and as there is, therefore, no necessity for any preliminary exposition of their terms, they will be presented under Standing Order 31 next week. We hope to proceed with the Second Reading of the Home Rule Bill on the Monday after the Recess, 2nd June, when we shall state to the House the course we propose in regard to the later stages of this and the other Bills.

Mr. BONAR LAW

The right hon. Gentleman did not say anything about to-morrow week.

Mr. LLOYD GEORGE

There the Government are entirely in the hands of the House. It is a private Member's day. If there is a general expression of feeling on the subject, of course the Government are in the hands of the House.

Mr. JAMES HOPE

When will the Motion for the setting up of the Select Committee on Procedure be taken?

Mr. LLOYD GEORGE

It is on the Paper. Unfortunately, it has generally been objected to after Eleven o'clock, and there is difficulty in getting the Committee set up.

Mr. JAMES HOPE

Will the right hon. Gentleman take steps to have it put down on some day when it can be taken before Eleven o'clock?

Mr. LLOYD GEORGE

We will consider that.

Ordered, "That the Proceedings on the Plural Voting Bill have precedence this day of the Business of Supply."—[Mr. Lloyd George.]
