James Laing, Son, and Company, drysalters, Holt Town, Manchester; whether he is aware that eight men were severely burnt, two having since died from their injuries; whether he is aware that on 21st March, 1911, a similar explosion and fire took place at the same works, causing loss of life to three men; and whether he will consider the advisability of making full inquiry into the cause of the last explosion?
§ Mr. McKENNAThe explosion has been reported to the Department, and inquiries as to the cause are now proceeding. I can assure my hon. Friend that the fullest investigation will be made, and the Department will also be represented at the adjourned inquest.
§ Mr. CLYNESWere any precautions taken after the first explosion to prevent a second explosion?
