Mr. KINGasked the Prime Minister whether two ecclesiastical communities in South Wales, which formed part of the 406 Church of England, have joined the Roman Catholic Church and are claiming to take with them the conventual properties given by members of a Protestant Church for the Protestant Established Church; and whether he will institute an inquiry into alienation of recent endowments and donations which have passed, or are in danger of passing, contrary to the wishes of pious donors?
§ The PRIME MINISTERI have no further information as regards the matters referred to by my hon. Friend than what has appeared in the public Press. The question of the disposition of the property appears to be a legal matter, and I am not aware of any grounds for action by the Government. I do not know of any further ground for the inquiry suggested in the last part of the question.
