HC Deb 12 March 1913 vol 50 c231
18. Mr. CASSEL

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is in a position to make any further statement with regard to the dispute between drivers and owners of taxi-cabs; and whether his Department has taken, or is taking, any steps with a view of bringing to a conclusion a strike which has lasted so long and is causing suffering and distress among drivers and heavy losses to owners?

Mr. BUXTON

Officers of my Department have been keeping in touch with the developments of this dispute, and if it should appear at any time that the Board of Trade could usefully take active steps to assist in bringing about a settlement both sides are aware that the services of the Department are at their disposal.

Mr. JOHN WARD

Have either side applied to the Board of Trade for their intervention?

Mr. BUXTON

I would like to have notice of a question of that sort.
