HC Deb 12 March 1913 vol 50 c243
40. Sir J. D. REES

asked the Prime Minister whether the Government proposes to take any, and, if so, what steps to strengthen the defences of the country, in view of the action in this direction now being taken by other European Powers; and what answer has been returned to the letter addressed to him on behalf of the committee of the National Defence Association?

The PRIME MINISTER

The intentions and plans of the Government will be fully explained when the Army and Navy Estimates for the coming year are presented to the House. The letter referred to in the last part of the question has been acknowledged, and the views expressed in it are receiving consideration.
