§ 66. Mr. J. P. FARRELLasked the Chief secretary for Ireland the reasons why Ellen Farrelly, Fihora, county Longford, was refused an old age pension after the same had been passed for her by the local sub-committee; and whether he will direct the Local Government Board to send an independent inspector to inquire into this woman's circumstances?
§ Mr. GULLANDEllen Farrelly's claim has not been refused. An appeal has been lodged with the Local Government Board by the pension officer against the decision of the sub-committee on the ground that the claimant's means are in excess of the statutory limit. The case is at present under consideration by the Board, and when all the available particulars are placed before them they will be in a position to determine whether it will be necessary to send an inspector to investigate the claimant's circumstances before a decision is arrived at.
