§ 41. Mr. BRIDGEMANasked the President of the Board of Education whether he is aware that the delay in the publication of the Report of the Committee on teachers' pensions is causing anxiety amongst those teachers who resigned before the new scale came into force, and who have been led to hope for some improvement in their pensions; and if he can give some definite date when the Report will be published?
§ The PRESIDENT of the BOARD of EDUCATION (Mr. J. A. Pease)I am fully aware of the interest which the teachers who reached the age of sixty-five before the 1st April, 1912, have in the inquiry which is proceeding, and I have every desire to expedite a decision. It is impossible, however, that the Committee should make any recommendation on this point until the actuarial investigation has furnished them with the necessary data, I do not now expect to receive the Report for some months.
§ Mr. BRIDGEMANCan the right hon. Gentleman give some date by which the Report will be received?
§ Mr. PEASEI have been in communication with the chairman of the committee, who informs me the delay is due to the non-receipt of the actuarial calculation, and until they are received it will be impossible for the Committee to report.
