§ Colonel SEELYMen belonging to the Army Reserve are not permitted to enlist into the Territorial Force. Men of the Territorial Force who enlist in category (b) of the Special Reserve, are supernumerary to the Territorial Force, and will serve on mobilisation with the Special Reserve. The number of these men in category (b) is 1,006.

§ Colonel SEELYI have only given figures with regard to the men; if there is any other point about the officers of the Yeomanry I shall be very glad if the hon. Gentleman will put down a question about it.
§ 18. Sir REGINALD POLE-CAREWasked how many horse and field batteries of the Territorial Force are at the present moment up to full strength in every way, personnel, horses, and guns?
§ Colonel SEELYTwo Horse Artillery and twenty-nine Field Artillery batteries are up to full establishment, and seven batteries of Horse and fifty-two of Field Artillery have over 90 per cent. of their establishment. They have their full complement of guns. Horses are not maintained with the units during peace time except during the annual training.
§ 19. Sir REGINALD POLE-CAREWasked what is the annual cost to the State of a battery of Horse Artillery of the Territorial Force with its full complement of personnel, horses, and guns; and of a field battery of the same force under similar conditions?
§ Colonel SEELYThe annual cost per battery, including share of brigade ammunition column, is for Horse Artillery £4,400, and for Field Artillery £3,500.
