HC Deb 18 June 1913 vol 54 c374
54. Mr. CHARLES DUNCAN

asked the number of protests received by the Insurance Commissioners and the Lancashire Insurance Committee against the appointment as clerk to that committee, at a salary of £500 per annum, of a person already in receipt of over £5,000 per annum from other salaried appointments, and the names of the organisations and the number of insured persons represented by such protests; and whether full particulars of the same will be submitted to the new insurance committee, which will shortly be formed, so that the appointment can be reconsidered?

Mr. MASTERMAN

I will send the hon. Member a list of the organisations which have written to the Commissioners on this subject. I have no information concerning the facts suggested in the question, but in any case the appointment of the clerk in the first place rests with the Lancashire Insurance Committee.
