§ 54. Mr. CHARLES DUNCANasked the number of protests received by the Insurance Commissioners and the Lancashire Insurance Committee against the appointment as clerk to that committee, at a salary of £500 per annum, of a person already in receipt of over £5,000 per annum from other salaried appointments, and the names of the organisations and the number of insured persons represented by such protests; and whether full particulars of the same will be submitted to the new insurance committee, which will shortly be formed, so that the appointment can be reconsidered?
§ Mr. MASTERMANI will send the hon. Member a list of the organisations which have written to the Commissioners on this subject. I have no information concerning the facts suggested in the question, but in any case the appointment of the clerk in the first place rests with the Lancashire Insurance Committee.
