HC Deb 17 June 1913 vol 54 c204
52. Mr. O'GRADY

asked how many trade unionists have registered as unemployed at the Kingston-on-Thames Labour Exchange during the six months ending 31st March last; and how many of the number registering have been found employment?

Mr. ROBERTSON

It is not possible to give the information desired by my hon. Friend, as applicants for employment at a Labour Exchange are not asked whether or not they are members of a trade union.

Mr. O'GRADY

Is the hon. Gentleman aware that as a matter of fact they are asked whether they are trade unionists, and, if they are, it prevents them getting employment?

Mr. ROBERTSON

My information is exactly the opposite. If the hon. Gentleman will give me any evidence it shall be carefully inquired into.
